The only fatality
To be alone as a group, be it a family or other community whose members are bonded by any tie other than blood, it’s very different than being alone totally isolated. It might be a matter of luck, health and/or will if that means some support at least or torture on the other hand. Why is it that our societies are mostly based on small self-enclosed inside circles? What happens to fragile individuals when those fail? Because they tend to fail, pandemic or not. Who cares? I guess we will find out in the end.
The only fatality,
the only taint that can afflict a human group
and prevent it from fully fulfilling its nature,
is to be alone.
Claude Lévi-Strauss
