Note to selfishness

One thing I could not help to notice, when analysing the reach of this blog after one year of exercise, was the origin of its readers, all of them coming, with a few, not very significant exceptions, from countries located within the Schengen area or with easy access to it. This is not surprising, as my own outreach is limited mostly to people I’ve met or somehow have crossed paths with in a more or less central Europe. This season here and now, hard to swallow for so many because of its underlying hypocrisy, is undoubtedly a good time to relativise pain assuming privilege.

When it comes to writing, if you want to do it for real, do it about what you know. However, if you really want to know more, you can observe, listen and engage better. Either way, the key is not to lose sight of the others (who are not alike us). No unequal system based on consumerism and exploitation will do it for you.
